Who doesn’t want to swim with these gentle giants?!

In the small coastal town of Lila in the South of Bohol, whale shark watching is now possible, and it’s tremendously popular. However, it is also quite controversial because whale sharks only migrate along Lila and Bohol and don’t naturally gather in Lila. The Lila whale sharks are hand-fed, guaranteeing they will show up to excite guests, who can snap close-range photos—the feeding only happens in the morning.

Tourists must attend a short mandatory briefing on how to behave around the whale sharks upon arrival.

The rules are strict: no touching, no riding, no flash photography, and keep at least six feet (1.5 meters) away from the whale sharks at all times.

Important Note: Starting February 6, 2025, swimming with whalesharks in Lila Bohol is (temporarily) suspended by the governor of Bohol, Erico Aristotle Aumentado. We don’t know if the park will re-open again. Until then, we recommend choosing for Balicasag island hopping and dolphin watching.

Duration & Itinerary:

The tour starts at 6 AM and finishes at around 9 AM.

Resort or Hotel Pickup: Our driver will pick you up from your resort or hotel and take you to Lila Park, which is about a 1-hour drive.
Lila Park: You’ll have 30 minutes to swim and encounter the gentle giants, following the rules set by Lila Park.
Return to Resort or Hotel: Once you’re done with the swim and ready to leave, the driver will take you back to your resort or hotel.

Meeting Point: Please note that the freediving equipment needs to be fitted at the Freedive Academy in Tangnan Panglao.

This can happen the day before the tour, and then we will organize to pick you up at 6:00 a.m. from your resort in Lila.

When the gear fitting happens on the tour day, the meetup time is 5:30 a.m. at the Freedive Academy. We will then organize transport to Lila Park from the Academy.

Important Note: Free pick-up is only available for guests staying around Panglao and Dauis (near Panglao). Please ensure your gear is fitted beforehand for a smooth pickup.
